Our 2025 Walk Programme is as follows:
Sunday 4th May 2025
Blue Gum Walk Hornsby – Leader David Roberts
Meeting Place: Rosemead Road Picnic Area, 107 Rosemead Rd Hornsby at 8.30am. Walk starts at 9am.
Details of walk: This two and a half hour (5 km) circuit walk follows the much-loved Blue Gum track. Experience the dramatic changes in vegetation as the tall blue gums growing on the rich, volcanic soils of the Hornsby diatreme give way to the woodland on the iconic sandstone ridgetops. A haven for many species of wildlife, discover for yourself this stunning area right on Hornsby’s back doorstep.
Grade: 3.5 (moderately challenging to challenging) – it sections of trail are hilly, steep and rough; a tricky creek crossing.
Suitability: Adults and older teens (16-19 years) with some bushwalking experience and a moderate level of fitness. Not suitable for children.
Duration: Two and a half hours (5 km).

Guidelines for attendees
- You must be a member of Friends of Berowra Valley to join the walk. This is necessary for insurance purpose. Membership is very reasonable and will give you free access to all the walks we run.
- For safety reasons and the enjoyment of walkers, numbers are limited to 10 plus two leaders.
- Bushwalking can be hazardous: we usually walk on unsealed, uneven surfaces which may slope and be slippery or loose; insects may bite or sting; snakes are rare but may be seen
- If you are an inexperienced bushwalker or have a medical condition which could affect your walk, please discuss with your leader prior to departure
- Wear strong, comfortable, enclosed footwear with a non-slippery sole
- It is recommended that you wear clothing that covers arms and legs
- Bring plenty of water and keep well hydrated
- Bring appropriate food, hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, insect repellent and wet weather gear if necessary. Please use repellents only if needed and avoid using sprays outdoors.
- Dispose of any rubbish in a thoughtful manner

Nature Wellness Walk – Leader Mary Bell
Meeting Place: Outside the gates of the Hornsby Council Pennant Hills Community Nursery Warada Ngurang Community Nursery, gate 2, 28 Britannia Street, Pennant Hills. Walk starts at 9am.
Details of walk:
Experience nature through the senses , for your wellbeing , whilst appreciating the bushland features around you.
This walk is intended to be taken at a slower pace and will include activities to help you slow down and appreciate your surroundings. Some of the trail will not have a formed surface and will be a more natural path.
Led by a trained forest therapy guide this walk will encourage you to slow down and feel more connected to nature. Discover the healing power of nature through a guided sensory wellness walk amongst the trees along the Mambara Walk at Pennant Hills Park.
Grade: 1 – No bushwalking experience required. Flat, even surface with no steps or steep sections. Suitable for wheelchair users who have someone to assist them. Walks no greater than 5km.
Suitability: Open to everyone who wants to slow down a little. Family groups are welcome on the walk, please advise when booking.
Duration: Two hours.
Additional Information: Toilets are available at the Pennant Hills Park.
Bring a hat, water, and sensible walking shoes. We will have some bush tea at the end of the walk. You may like to bring your own cup, although some will be provided.
