Marymount Mercy Centre

We were recently contacted by a resident near the Marymount Mercy Centre with an image of a Powerful Owl which he often hears in the early morning.

We researched the outcome of the DA submitted to Council in October 2021 of the 8.853 hectare site at 36-56 David Road, Castle Hill.

In August 2024 Council agreed to:

  • The transfer to Council ownership and management 3.052 ha. This includes the Tahlee Park extension which comprises an area of approximately 3,315m2 and will result in the overall size of Tahlee Park increasing from 3,577m2 to 6,892m2.
  • The creation of Marymount Forest Conservation Reserve which will protect the 2.7 hectare area mapped as Sydney Turpentine-Ironbark Forest, which is listed as a ‘critically endangered ecological community’ under the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016.

The total area of land to be dedicated for the purpose of the park extension and conservation reserve represents an area of 3.052 hectares or 34.47% of the total current site area (8.853 hectares).

In December 2024 it was reported that the rest of the property has been acquired by Malaysian real estate developer Mulpha for $68.09 million.

Mulpha proposes to redevelop the site into $150 million boutique luxury offering of 63 residential land lots, with an estimated total development cost of $100 million.

Construction work is expected to commence in September 2025, with the project slated for completion by mid-2026.

We have been informed that 250 trees will be removed to make way for the new housing.
